The Audi e-tron FE07 stands as a milestone in Audi’s motorsport history, representing both the pinnacle of its Formula E development and its farewell to the all-electric racing series. Debuting in Season 7 (2020–21), the FE07 featured the MGU05 powertrain, a single-motor electric unit developed entirely in-house by Audi Sport for the first time, signaling a major step forward in performance engineering.

With over 95% energy efficiency and a power output of 250 kW (335 hp) in qualifying mode

The FE07 was one of the most efficient and powerful cars on the grid. Paired with a 52 kWh battery and built around the standardized Gen2 chassis, the car relied heavily on advanced energy management software and precise regenerative braking systems to gain a competitive edge in races where strategy was often more important than outright speed.

Driven by experienced racers Lucas di Grassi

A former Formula E champion, and René Rast, the FE07 demonstrated strong on-track performance, including a victory in Puebla, Mexico, and several top-ten finishes that helped Audi secure sixth place in the Teams’ Championship. While it didn’t capture a title, the FE07 exemplified Audi’s electric innovation and motorsport dedication, serving as a bridge between competition and consumer technology.

Lessons learned from its development directly influenced Audi’s growing e-tron road car lineup,

Including the high-performance Audi e-tron GT, while also laying technical groundwork for future projects such as Audi’s electric Dakar Rally campaign and its highly anticipated Formula 1 debut in 2026 with Sauber.

“As the last Audi to compete in Formula E, the e-tron FE07 isn’t just a race car—it’s a symbol of transition, blending racing heritage with a bold, electric future”.
