Not every SUV needs to be packed with complicated technology, aggressive styling or performance figures that most owners will rarely use, because for a large number of buyers in the UAE, what actually matters is having a car that is comfortable, practical, easy to live with and affordable enough to make sense as an everyday vehicle, and that is exactly the space the Suzuki Across is trying to occupy.

I recently spent some time with the Suzuki Across in Dubai, and instead of looking at it as a car that needs to impress with huge numbers or premium features, I approached it from the perspective of the person who will actually use it every day, whether that means commuting to work, taking the family out, dealing with traffic, parking in busy areas or heading away for the weekend.

Designed for Daily Life

The exterior design of the Across is modern without trying too hard, with slim lighting elements, a clean front end, protective lower sections and the kind of proportions that give it the presence buyers expect from an SUV, while still keeping the overall size manageable enough for daily driving around the city.

That balance is important in a place like Dubai, where a car can spend one moment cruising on a wide highway and the next trying to fit into a relatively tight underground parking space, so having an SUV that gives you useful interior space without feeling unnecessarily oversized can make a noticeable difference in day-to-day ownership.

A Cabin Focused on Simplicity

Inside, the Across follows the same philosophy, with a cabin that feels designed around usability rather than complexity, which means the controls are easy to understand, the driving position gives you the elevated view many SUV buyers prefer, and the overall layout feels familiar enough that you do not need a long learning curve before you become comfortable with the car.

For me, that kind of simplicity has real value, especially in a vehicle that may be used every day for years, because while large screens and complicated menus can look impressive at first, what matters more over time is whether the car remains easy and intuitive to use whenever you get behind the wheel.

The Value of Suzuki’s Reputation

One of the biggest reasons people continue to consider Suzuki is not necessarily something you can see during a short walkaround or test drive, because much of the brand’s appeal comes from the reputation it has built over many decades for producing relatively straightforward, dependable and affordable vehicles.

That becomes particularly relevant in the UAE, where cars are expected to handle high temperatures, long distances and demanding everyday conditions, and where buyers often pay close attention not only to the purchase price, but also to reliability, servicing and the overall cost of ownership over several years.

What It Feels Like on the Road

On the road, the Suzuki Across feels like a vehicle that has been developed around comfort and ease of use rather than sportiness, and I actually think that suits its character very well because this is not a car that needs to pretend to be something it is not.

The steering, ride and general driving experience all feel focused on making everyday journeys more relaxed, whether you are moving through city traffic, joining the highway or taking a longer trip outside Dubai, and for many buyers that kind of predictable, easygoing character is far more valuable than having performance figures they will rarely take advantage of.

Suzuki Across Price in the UAE

Pricing is also an important part of the Across story, particularly because the compact and midsize SUV market in the UAE has become extremely competitive, with established manufacturers and newer brands all fighting for attention with increasingly aggressive pricing and long equipment lists.

The Suzuki Across GL starts from AED 74,900, while the GLX starts from AED 82,900, placing the model in a segment where buyers have plenty of alternatives, which means the Across has to rely on the combination of practicality, comfort, simplicity and Suzuki’s established reputation rather than trying to win purely through equipment or headline numbers.

Who Is It For?

After spending time with the car, I think the Across makes the most sense for someone who wants an SUV that can simply fit into their life without demanding too much attention, because it gives you the space, comfort and versatility required for everyday use while remaining approachable enough for city driving and daily commuting.

There are certainly faster SUVs, more luxurious SUVs and more technologically advanced options on the market, but if your priorities are practicality, ease of ownership, everyday comfort and buying from an established brand, then the Suzuki Across becomes a very straightforward proposition.

In many ways, that is probably its strongest point, because it does not try to reinvent the SUV formula; it simply focuses on being the kind of car you can use every day without overthinking it.
