The Volkswagen Golf R was first introduced in 2003 and other R-branded models were soon showcased years down the line, VW golf R developed into one of the most proficient hot hatchbacks available. It also makes a decent foundation for customization/modifying due to its well-designed engine . But to succeed the carmaker realized that it needed to employ smaller engines, not a V6 like the R32. Furthermore, the Golf R has been powered by a turbocharged inline-four engine with all-wheel drive since the 2006 model. From 266 horse power to 328 horse power in the 2024 Golf R, the power rose throughout time.

With a seven-speed automatic transmission, the 2025 VW Golf R will have 328 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, marking a performance boost. There won’t be a manual transmission on this hot hatch. A small  update is coming for the 2025 Volkswagen Golf R, which will also give it some more power. This entertaining package, which will make its way to the US later this year, also receives an upgraded media system, new exterior style, and more. The Golf R’s 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine, which produces 328 horsepower and 310 pound-ft of torque exclusively, provides the additional power. It transfers this power to the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system via a seven-speed automatic transmission.

What’s New with the 2025 model

On the exterior, there are improvements, such as a revised front end, a new bumper cover, and new LED headlamp assemblies. A horizontal light strip in the grille and an illuminated VW logo will come standard on the forthcoming Golf R. With the new LED taillights at the back, the story is much the same. A new Black Edition version of the Golf R will also be available, featuring darkened emblems, black wheels, brakes, and exhaust tips.

The 2025 VW Golf R’s interior will have a 10.2-inch digital cockpit driver’s display on either side of a 12.9-inch touchscreen media system. The central area of the touchscreen, according to VW, is positioned between the top and bottom touch bars. The touchscreen is split into three sections. A touch-slider-based climate control system identical to the one on the current Golf R is located beneath the screen.
