Dubai, 27 May 2025 – The much-anticipated Hyundai IONIQ 9 electric SUV has made an impressive debut in the UK, earning its first major accolade by being named Best Seven-Seat EV at the 2025 TopGear.com Electric Awards.

Now in its sixth year, the annual awards highlight top-performing electric vehicles and celebrate innovation across various categories. A panel of expert judges selected the IONIQ 9 as the standout seven-seater, praising its practicality, sleek design, and advanced technology—further cementing Hyundai’s reputation as a leader in electric mobility.

Jack Rix, Editor-in-Chief of Top Gear, commented:

“The IONIQ 9 is a smart and well-rounded vehicle. While its design is more reserved compared to the IONIQ 5 and 6, it’s still stylish and serves its purpose well. It’s another example of Hyundai combining bold design with thoughtful functionality.”

Since its global reveal in Los Angeles last December, the IONIQ 9 has earned wide acclaim for its elegant and minimalist design. Its high-end interior offers a bright, spacious feel, emphasizing comfort and flexibility with lounge-inspired seating. The SUV also delivers impressive cargo capacity—up to 1,323 litres with the rear seats folded, or 620 litres with all seats in use.

While final specifications for the UK market are still pending, all Hyundai IONIQ 9 models come equipped with a 110.3 kWh long-range battery, offering up to 620 km of driving range (WLTP estimate) and a choice of three motor configurations. Charging is both convenient and extremely fast thanks to 800V capability, and with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, the car makes electric living easier than ever.

The IONIQ 9 delivers a refined and premium driving experience, supported by a smooth and comfortable ride. This is achieved through a suspension system specifically engineered for electric SUVs, which includes MacPherson multi-link suspension in the front and rear, as well as self-levelling dampers for added stability and comfort.

UK pricing and model variants will be announced later this year.

Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, commented:

“Excitement around the UK launch of the IONIQ 9 is growing, and winning Top Gear’s Best Seven-Seat EV award reinforces our belief that this car will strongly resonate with customers. Hyundai’s EV line-up continues to expand—covering everything from compact crossovers to high-performance vehicles and full-size SUVs—ensuring there’s a standout Hyundai for every need.”
