The BMW iX3 marks the beginning of a new era for Bavaria within the Neue Klasse family, delivering a major leap in efficiency, intelligence, and connectivity. Featuring the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology, the iX3 promises up to 805 km of range (WLTP) and ultra-fast 400 kW charging, supported by an all-new electronic architecture with four “super brains” that elevate driving intelligence and responsiveness.
Modern Design… BMW’s Core DNA with Stronger Presence
The iX3 debuts BMW’s new design language: cleaner lines, sharp surfaces, and an upright front with a vertically interpreted kidney grille inspired by the 1960s, now paired with modern light elements replacing chrome.
Dimensions: 4,782 mm length, 1,895 mm width, 1,635 mm height, and a 0.24 drag coefficient. Hidden handles, body-colored wheel arches, and L-shaped horizontal taillights further emphasize the X family’s sporty appeal.
A Digital, Driver-Centric Cabin
Inside, the iX3 offers a minimalist yet premium five-seat layout, modern materials, and a dashboard that flows seamlessly into the doors. The optional panoramic roof enhances space and light, while slim, sporty seats deliver long-distance comfort with a wide selection of finishes (Veganza, BMW Individual, or M).
BMW Panoramic iDrive
BMW’s next-level user experience blends digital precision with the brand’s iconic “ultimate driving” philosophy:
- Panoramic Vision display stretches across the windshield, with an optional 3D Head-Up Display.
- Smartly positioned central display with QuickSelect vertical widgets for instant access.
- Enhanced Intelligent Personal Assistant (with new voices and proactive suggestions) integrated with the My BMW app.
- Onboard entertainment includes Spotify, AirConsole gaming, Disney+, YouTube, and Zoom video calls (market availability may vary).
Sixth-Generation eDrive Powertrain
The launch model, iX3 50 xDrive, features dual motors producing 469 hp and 645 Nm, sprinting 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with a 210 km/h top speed.
The new 800-volt high-voltage battery (108.7 kWh usable) with cylindrical cells provides:
- 678–805 km range (WLTP, preliminary)
- DC fast charging up to 400 kW: 372 km added in 10 minutes, 10–80% in 21 minutes
- AC charging 11 kW standard / 22 kW optional
- 40% lower energy losses and 10% reduced weight compared to fifth-gen eDrive.
Bi-Directional Charging (V2L/V2H/V2G)
The iX3 supports versatile bi-directional charging: power your devices (V2L), feed your home (V2H), or even return energy to the grid (V2G). A new DC Wallbox Professional enables home and workplace bidirectional charging, while the smart AI-controlled charging flap opens automatically when detecting user intent.
One of the four supercomputers, Heart of Joy, manages drivetrain, braking, energy recuperation, and steering with 10x faster processing. This delivers sharper responses, smoother stops (via Soft Stop), and ensures 98% of daily braking is handled purely through regeneration.
Next-Gen Driver Assistance
The “super brain for automated driving” delivers 20x faster processing power, enabling advanced highway and city assist functions. BMW’s Symbiotic Drive integrates human inputs with AI, offering a more seamless blend of manual and assisted driving.
The iX3 offers 520–1,750 liters of luggage capacity, plus an additional 58 liters of frunk storage. The iX3 50 xDrive supports towing up to 2,000 kg. Styling and performance can be further enhanced with M Sport or M Sport Pro packages, while BMW Iconic Glow adds distinctive light and sound animations.
Sustainability at the Core
BMW’s holistic approach reduces lifecycle emissions:
- 34% lower CO₂ footprint compared to the previous iX3 (20% more efficient in use phase).
- Extensive secondary material usage: recycled marine plastics, Econeer fabrics, and up to 80% recycled aluminum in key components.
- The Debrecen plant in Hungary operates without fossil fuels in regular production.
Production & Market Launch
- Production of the iX3 50 xDrive starts in Fall 2025 at BMW’s Debrecen plant.
- Launch in Europe Spring 2026, followed by the US and China Summer 2026.
- By 2027, Neue Klasse innovations will underpin 40 new or updated models across the BMW lineup.
