On July 11, 2025, Lamborghini introduced the Temerario GT3 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as the successor to the Huracán GT3. It’s the first GT3 race car fully developed in-house at the Sant’Agata Bolognese facility. Built on the production Temerario, it retains the same chassis and engine, though both have been extensively reworked for racing. The hybrid system from the road car has been removed to prioritize racing performance. The outgoing Huracán GT3 notably sold over 200 units and amassed 96 global GT3 race wins over a ten-year span.

Exterior & Interior Design

Designed through a close collaboration between Lamborghini’s styling team and its Squadra Corse racing division, the Temerario GT3 adopts production-inspired lines while significantly enhanced for aerodynamics. The front splitter, rear diffuser, and underbody have been reengineered to improve downforce and balance. Its exterior is made entirely of lightweight carbon fiber, divided into quick-release sections (front and rear) for fast servicing during race weekends. The front fascia sports Lamborghini’s signature hexagonal LED daytime running lights, complemented by strong fog lamps for reliable visibility in variable weather.

Inside the cockpit, emphasis was placed on driver comfort and usability. Factory drivers Marco Mapelli and Andrea Caldarelli provided input to refine driving position and ergonomics. The instrument panel includes updated graphics and a comprehensive data-logging system, while the steering wheel and control buttons have been customized based on driver feedback. Additionally, advanced electronic control systems and tailored software deliver optimized race performance.

Performance & Technical Specifications

FeatureSpecification
Engine4.0 L twin‑turbo V8
Power OutputApproximately 550 HP (regulated under Balance of Performance rules)
DrivetrainRear-wheel drive (RWD)
Transmission6-speed sequential gearbox
Chassis & BodyAluminum spaceframe with FIA-compliant safety cage; full carbon-fiber body
SuspensionKW adjustable dampers with six settings
Wheels18-inch Ronal units

Although based on the production car’s 4.0L V8, the GT3 version has smaller turbochargers and a custom gearbox for optimal track performance. Power output is capped at 550 HP to comply with BoP regulations, compared to 800 HP in the road-going hybrid variant. A Capristo exhaust system enhances gas flow and reduces weight. The chassis has been stripped of hybrid-related components, and suspension mounts have been reinforced. The wheelbase was lengthened and the track widened to improve cornering stability.

Technology & Innovations

The Temerario GT3 is packed with race-optimized technology. It features new software and hardware systems supporting advanced data logging, telemetry, and driver feedback. Aerodynamic and thermal performance has been boosted with refined air intakes for enhanced engine and brake cooling. Extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber has helped reduce overall mass. Design details include a revised fuel filler valve for faster pit stops and new fuel sensor technology for greater accuracy. For the first time, it incorporates KW dampers with six-way adjustability and a specially tuned hydraulic steering system to fine-tune handling. Collectively, these innovations position the car as a significant technical leap ahead of its Huracán GT3 predecessor, all while retaining Lamborghini’s bold design essence.

Racing Teams & Competition Plans

“Lamborghini aims to roll out the Temerario GT3 at the end of 2025, gearing up for official competition in the 2026 racing calendar. The car is expected to compete in major GT3 series around the world, including IMSA’s GTD Pro class, Germany’s DTM, and the GT World Challenge Europe. Under GT3 homologation rules, manufacturers must field at least 10 cars by the end of the approval year, which Lamborghini intends to supply to customer teams globally. While no specific teams have been confirmed yet, Lamborghini has pledged full technical support for those previously running the Huracán GT3. Additionally, it plans to launch a one-make race series centered on the Temerario—replacing the Super Trofeo—beginning in 2027”.
