Hublot reunites with the iconic Yohji Yamamoto to offer a renewed interpretation of the color black. Now in their fourth collaboration since 2020, the partnership transforms black from a simple hue into a fully realized design language with the Classic Fusion All Black Camo. Limited to 300 pieces, the watch showcases deliberate contrasts and textures. Its 42mm matte black ceramic case plays with light and shadow, while a monochrome camouflage motif introduces a sense of movement. A strap combining fabric and rubber completes the composition with seamless balance.

This alliance extends beyond fashion and watchmaking it is a shared philosophy.

Both Hublot and Yohji Yamamoto are driven by a desire to reduce design to its purest form and to challenge conventional notions of luxury through deconstruction. Hublot disrupted Swiss watchmaking in 1980 with its Art of Fusion, merging innovation with tradition. Likewise, Yohji Yamamoto reshaped fashion in 1981 by introducing black as a counterpoint to excess and established norms.

For both houses, black represents essence rather than absence

Hublot’s All Black concept, introduced in 2006, defines light through volume and texture rather than color alone. Yohji Yamamoto’s early black silhouettes were viewed as radical, freeing creativity from ornamentation. At Hublot, black is shaped through materials such as matte ceramic and smoked sapphire, while for Yamamoto it is expressed through layered textiles—wool, silk, and cotton—designed to move and breathe. In both visions, black exists between presence and invisibility.

Commenting on the project

Hublot CEO Julien Tornare noted that for Yohji Yamamoto, black refines form and allows silhouette and texture to speak, while at Hublot it is treated as a living material shaped by light. This marks the first collaboration between the two brands on a Classic Fusion model, united by the belief that true luxury lies not in brilliance, but in longevity.

Reinterpreted through Yohji Yamamoto’s aesthetic, camouflage becomes an exploration of motion and material. Rendered in black-on-black relief, the pattern evolves with changing light, creating depth and subtle dynamism.

As Yohji Yamamoto himself states, “Black is modest and arrogant at the same time.”

“The 42mm matte black ceramic case captures shadow, while the camouflage dial shifts delicately with movement. A smoked sapphire caseback reveals the MHUB1110 automatic calibre and skeletonized rotor, maintaining the watch’s monochrome mystique. The fabric-and-rubber strap reflects the designer’s tactile approach and Hublot’s technical expertise, while Yamamoto’s signature appears on each of the 300 bespoke All Black presentation boxes”.
