Following the success of the transformable pocket watch, MP-16 Arsham Droplet, the new timepiece once again breaks away from traditional watch design. Inspired by the fluid essence of water, organic forms, and transparency, the MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire embodies a seamless fusion of Hublot “Art of Fusion” philosophy and Daniel Arsham’s imaginative reinterpretation of archaeology—where contemporary objects are reimagined as ancient artifacts, blurring the lines between past, present, and future.

This marks Arsham’s first-ever wristwatch design for Hublot—a wearable sculpture that carries his distinct creative touch in every flowing curve. The compact 42mm case is made possible by the integration of Hublot’s in-house Meca-10 manual-winding movement, which is visible through the dial’s open section and the transparent sapphire caseback.

The use of frosted box-shaped sapphire crystal, titanium, and rubber in the MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire captures the essence of Hublot’s “Art of Fusion.

” These materials provide the perfect foundation for sculpting the organic forms inspired by the fluidity of water. A standout feature of the design is the striking opening on the dial that mimics a water splash, directly echoing the MP-16’s droplet motif.

Daniel Arsham’s vision of time is central to his design philosophy. In his 2016 TED Talk, he explained:

“My work collapses time—you’re not quite sure if an object is from the past or the future.” While the MP-16 embodied this concept through its form, the MP-17 explores how time leaves its mark—through flowing contours, water-inspired dial apertures, and transparent sapphire elements. The result is a seamless integration of Arsham’s artistic language with Hublot’s Meca-10 movement in a functional design.

Though at first glance the watch may seem like a departure from Hublot’s classic style, a closer look reveals signature elements: the six H-shaped screws on the bezel and caseback, the distinct lugs at 3 and 9 o’clock, and the H-shaped titanium folding clasp. Arsham’s signature “Arsham Green” accents the hour and minute hands, numerals, markers, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and power reserve indicator at 3.

More than just a timepiece

The MP-17 is a wearable piece of contemporary art, where fine watchmaking meets bold design. It invites collectors and art lovers alike to experience time through Daniel Arsham’s fluid, conceptual lens.

Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe described the collaboration as a journey into new creative dimensions:

“The MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash marks an exciting new chapter in our partnership with Arshamone that redefines the boundaries between horology and art.”

Arsham adds: “This watch explores the fluidity of time through a case inspired by the perfect shape of a water droplet, encasing Hublot’s Meca-10 movement. The transparent structure reflects both the purity and ever-changing nature of water.”

Limited to just 99 pieces, the watch is available exclusively at Hublot boutiques and authorized retailers
