The most recent in a long series of iconic ZR1s has finally arrived. With the tagline “Unthinkable Speed is Coming,” Chevrolet hinted to the 2025 C8 Corvette ZR1, inevitably causing enthusiasts to contemplate speed in great detail. And with good reason, the ZR1 is an extreme performance powerhouse .
Take a trip down memory lane and consider the earlier versions that helped make possible one of the most amazing supercars we’ve ever seen, as we wait for the newest super-Vette to arrive in dealerships.
Corvette ZR1 Power and Capabilities
As of 2025, the most explosive V-8 American production vehicle is the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Its 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 twin-turbo engine produces 1,064 horsepower, 828 pound-feet of torque, and a redline of 8,000 rpm , It can cover a quarter mile in less than ten seconds and reach speeds of over 215 miles per hour. It also has over 1,200 pounds of downforce when the ZTK kit is installed.
However, the Corvette has never had more than 1,000 horsepower. The current Z06 boasts a pitiful 670 horsepower, compared to the previous generation Corvette’s 755 horsepower.
Although Chevrolet hasn’t yet disclosed the 2025 ZR1’s 0–60 timings, it isn’t hesitant to announce that it can complete a quarter-mile in under ten seconds.
ZR1 Engine
The ZR1’s V-8 engine has undergone sufficient modifications to warrant a different engine code, meaning that Chevy didn’t simply add a few turbos to the Z06’s 5.5-liter V-8 and call it a day. The new LT7 engine is the sister of the LT6 in the Z06. There are several similarities between the two dual-cam small-blocks, including the unusual flat-plane crankshaft, displacement, and block design.
But the LT7 has a lot of special components in addition to its dual turbochargers, which can generate a nominal 20.0 psi of boost. Stronger connecting rods, port and direct fuel injection, an exclusive Edge Blue-painted intake system, and an effective anti-lag system for maintaining responsiveness all feature on the shopping list.
Corvette ZR1 Body Mods
A staggered pair of wheels, measuring 20 inches in the front and 21 inches in the back, are supported by Magnetic Ride 4.0 dampers, which are standard on every Corvette ZR1.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are wrapped around them; the track-focused ZTK package comes with more aggressive springs and more durable Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
A tall Gurney flap that mounts to a lip on the hood, underbody strakes for increased front downforce, front dive planes, and a sizable rear wing are also added to the latter. As part of the Carbon Aero package, those aero add-ons are available separately from the ZTK setup
Additionally, Chevy claims that at the ZR1’s anticipated top speed of more than 200 mph, all of these aero components can produce up to 1200 pounds of downforce; in the absence of the aero, Chevy believes the ZR1’s maximum velocity can reach over 215 mph

Interior
The ZR1’s interior resembles that of any other Corvette. The driver-focused layout remains unchanged, with the passengers divided by a divisive wall of tactile controls. An 8.0-inch touchscreen and a 12.0-inch instrument cluster are two of the digital displays.
Pricing Estimate
Chevy has not yet disclosed the price of this vehicle, it is reasonable to presume that it will be the most costly ‘Vette ever made. The Z06 is currently valued at $114,395. We’d venture to assume that the ZR1 is priced around roughly $180,000.
