Stuttgart. Drawing on its rich legacy while looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz is redefining its Sensual Purity design philosophy. Leading this new direction is the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC, equipped with EQ technology. A standout element of the vehicle is its newly designed, iconic front grille — a bold centerpiece that maintains the core identity of Mercedes-Benz while incorporating a minimalist aesthetic, clean lines, and advanced technology. The fully electric GLC will make its global debut at the IAA Mobility show in Munich on 7 September 2025.
A new chapter in iconic design that reimagines the brand’s identity
For over a century, the chrome grille has been a signature feature of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, evolving from simple, vertical forms to the more complex, horizontal designs seen in recent models. This grille has been a recognizable hallmark across millions of cars, including classic models like the Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman (W100, 1963–1981), the “Strich 8” (W114, 1968–1973), and the S-Class W108 (1965–1972) and W111 (1959–1968).
As one of the most recognizable expressions of the brand’s visual identity, the chrome grille instantly signals a Mercedes-Benz. Its latest iteration on the electric GLC marks a significant evolution — from a functional component in combustion engines to a sleek, illuminated design element that symbolizes luxury and innovation. This modern grille blends design, technology, and craftsmanship through three key features: a wide chrome frame, a smoked-glass-style mesh, and integrated ambient lighting. An optional illuminated version includes 942 light points that can animate, adding dynamic visual effects to the vehicle’s front. The central star emblem and the surrounding panel are also backlit, further enhancing the futuristic aesthetic of the electric GLC.
Evolving Sensual Purity: Crafting a Timeless Automotive Identity
Mercedes-Benz stands among a select few global brands that enjoy enduring trust, admiration, and respect. The three-pointed star has long symbolized understated elegance, cutting-edge innovation, and refined prestige — all expressed through the brand’s Sensual Purity design philosophy.
The all-new GLC takes this vision into a bold new era
As the most popular and best-selling model in Mercedes-Benz history, the GLC continues to lead the brand’s success story.
Equipped with EQ Technology, the new GLC represents a milestone for the midsize segment — it’s the first in a new generation of vehicles powered by MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz’s intelligent operating system that forms the digital core of its latest models. This new GLC blends the classic strengths of Mercedes-Benz — luxury, dependability, and elegance — with state-of-the-art electric drive systems and smart, intuitive software. Built for flexibility and comfort, it meets a wide range of lifestyles while carrying forward the GLC’s legacy: iconic, adaptable, and effortlessly smooth.
Inside, the design transformation continues
Entering the new GLC evokes the familiar sense of safety, comfort, and support that defines the Mercedes-Benz experience. The innovative MBUX HYPERSCREEN, seamlessly integrated across the dashboard, adds a new level of sophistication to the cabin. It creates an atmosphere of belonging — a true “Welcome Home” feeling — where every journey feels natural, intuitive, and deeply connected to the driver’s lifestyle. More than a vehicle, the electric GLC is a personalized, comforting space designed for modern living.
“Our redesigned iconic grille isn’t just a new face for the GLC — it’s a redefinition of our brand’s identity. It blends our timeless design heritage with a forward-looking vision, making every Mercedes-Benz instantly recognizable.”
